Tell us about yourself and what you do?
I am Amos Odero, a financial consultant from Kenya. I work for Ramos partners which is a financial consulting firm providing financial and technical solutions to SMEs, NGOs, Investment Groups and Corporates.
Why did you choose to undertake Managing Money course? What did you like about it? What did you find difficult?
I took Managing money course so as to refresh and enhance my understanding of financial management and planning. I liked the practical teaching approach and the examples used in drawing out the financial lessons. The Challenge that I faced during the course was time, but I was able to schedule my hours to cater for my learning.
You are our first Managing Money course champion. What did you learn from it? Are/have you implemented what you learnt? Is so, what are some of the immediate results you have seen?
As a financial consultant my work revolves around money and financial statements. The course enhanced my understanding of financial statements, how to interprete and effectively advice my clients. I am also better placed to manage money, track it and make more of it.
How would you describe AMI’s courses to someone who is taking them for the first time?
I would describe AMI courses as informative, educative and practical to a first timer. All one requires is a serious approach and create time to efficiently and effectively complete the course.
Which tools from the course did you find most helpful in your day-to-day work?
I find the case studies and financial statement tools very helpful.
How helpful was your buddy in your learning journey?
My buddy was helpful in keeping me in check. Always checking that I was doing my assignments and putting the lessons learnt into practice.
Do you plan to take any other AMI course? What would you be looking for in the next course?
I sure do plan on taking more AMI courses. Im currently taking the managing people course and intend to follow it up with the Managing projects class.
